That first time you walked in the door to an empty house, you knew your life had changed in so many ways. No more backpacks on the counter, dishes left in the sink or teenaged eye rolls to greet you. There’s been a seismic change in your life – one you’re not sure what to do with.
Whether we worked outside of the home full-time, were stay at home moms, or helped support our family with a part-time gig, it still feels strange when that one thing we identify with most – mothering – is no longer our day-to-day all-encompassing job.
With that whirlwind of activity called childhood behind us, we have more time to think about ourselves, and that can sometimes feel weird and uncomfortable. What do you mean, it’s now time for me to think about myself? How am I supposed to know what I want when I don’t even know who I am anymore?
This time can feel scary – like you are on a rudderless boat and are just drifting through your life.
But, it doesn’t have to be that way.
I’m Carolyn, a wife of 28 years and a suburban mother of two out of state college kids.
I started Empty Nest Bliss when my youngest child was a senior in high school. I was looking at the future with trepidation (at best) and fear (at worst) and wondering what in the world was next for me.
I’ve felt ALL the feelings since my oldest left for college four years ago – and I’ve come through stronger, with the knowledge that while life is definitely different, it can still be amazing.
Life is definitely going to be different…..but it can still be amazing.
I’m passionate about living a happy, healthy life. I believe that living a healthy lifestyle is the key to a long, happy and vibrant life. And I plan to be around a long time to continue to grow, live and enjoy!
